Codebook Password Manager App Reviews

The best

Easily one of the greatest apps of all time. I even had a problem synching recently and my email inquiry was responded to in less than 24 hours. (Turned out the synch error was caused by an oversight on my part.) love this app! I only wish they could create a make-your-own icon so that anyone who finds my phone might not be automatically directed to the app, which stores sensitive info (i.e.. a disguise). Otherwise a fantastic product!

Total Package

This Confidential multi-platform vault for account info is everything needed & more.

fingerprint login

Fingerprint login in iOS hasnt worked in ages. A recent "fix" pops up a message instructing the user to go to settings->Strip and change the "Login" setting, but no such setting is available.

Touch ID stopped working

In the past week the option to open the app with Touch ID has suddenly stopped being an option. What gives?

Simple. Elegant.

Perhaps not as fancy and full-featured as 1Password, but thats what makes this program a gem. Simplicity is good. I also use the sync app in conjunction with my desktop mac: it just works. Update Nov. 2011: I am still extraordinarily happy with this app. Update October 2015: some problems with touch ID. I can turn it on in the settings and it works a few times, but it always turns itself off within a day or two.

Great

Without STRIP It is hard changing passwords all the time as we are encouraged to do. With STRIP its a breeze!

Simply the best...

Ive been using this app for a few years now, literately multiple times per day, and have come to rely on it more than any other application I use. Strip uses 256 bit AES encryption so you really have peace of mind and know your information is secure. The interface is very simple and easy to manage while maintaining a fully comprehensive UI layout that I have NOT found to be lacking in any way. These guys have been in the business a long time and know what theyre doing. They work with some of the worlds leading organizations and in my mind, if the top technology companies like Microsoft and Oracle are using them, I want to be using them as well. More importantly, the customer service is top notch. I have encountered only a single obscure issue with multitasking that did not compromise security and was something you would probably never run into. Zetetic assured me that that they were on top of it. My only other issue was no fault of the app, but a consequence of my own carelessness and the support team went out of their way to help me sort it right out. I love a company that understands the importance of proper customer service and values each customer. Bottom line, the team at Zetetic have done a fantastic job of developing this app and keeping it current and, I find it to be possibly the best password and secure information manager out there. I am confident that you cant go wrong trusting strip to fully secure and organize your data and, make your life easier!

Still the best

Ive been using STRIP for about 3 years now, and consider it to be the absolute best in terms of both ease of use and security. For context on how good STRIPs security is, go look up Elcomsofts review of iOS password managers. Its a bit old, but its analysis is as true as ever.

Incredible!

Ive been a long time user of Password Safe and Truecrypt on my PC. Password manager generates complex passwords and I use Truecrypt to create a file container encrypted with AES and Twofish. You obviously need a password manager for each unique and complex password, but for iOS many are horrible at truly protecting that i formation(some stored in plain text!). After reading an article on various apps, and then subsequent articles on Strip after that, it was clear I could rely on the encryption it uses to keep that data safe. Love the program and dropbox sync, which also has that encrypted file container so I can access it wherever needed in the event of hardware failure.

Really like the new look and name

Much better look and name. Please add more icons and also add the ability to save images like screen shots. Keep up the good work!

Great update

Name change is a good call. Codebook is better and STRIP was hard to find, would get tons of dumb apps. Everything is great.

Codebook 3

I am a long time user of Zetetics Codebook 2. It is not only super secure for my passwords...but because it is designed to enter my information just like if I were putting it into a personal safe: I can just copy and paste my information into it anyway I want to: much like notes placed into a loose-leaf notebook. It is a very flexible application. Zetetic now has created a new and improved version: Codebook 3. What I especially like about Codebook 3 is that it has the same secure and flexible way to enter information as Codebook 2. In my case, I just successfully migrated all of my Notes from Codebook 2 into Codebook 3 and then synced all of it into DropBox. I then put that file into my encrypted disk image file which I store on DropBox. It All happened quickly and was error free. Codebook has always performed error free since I started using it in 2012. Super secure, fast, flexible, error free, and will sync to my DropBox or my Google Drive are the reasons I can highly recommend using this application. Lynn

Best app

In this password & information crazy world, this app is a life saver. From payroll and network logins for work, to Facebook & Twitter logins for fun, to personal data and banking for home, Codebook lets me keep track of all important data at my fingertips. Keep track of all your logins, passwords and private data without the worries of them being swiped if you lose your phone. Remember 1 password to access your data and keep tabs of everything without racking your brain trying to remember which password you used, or what your childs school ID number is when filling out that form at school. Dont know how else to describe other than its a powerful tool. I recommend it to anyone who tries to keep tabs of information, but whats to keep it safe. I love the icons, which make finding the info you need easy to find. Id like to see more icons added to the choices available, or even allow users to upload their own logos.

Code book update

Recently updated to new code book 3. Had a couple minor problems. Zetetic took care of right away. love the app

Changed the name of the app

I previously had Strip, I didnt realize they had changed the name and icon, I saw it on my phone and thought somehow a random app downloaded ( its happened to me be for), not knowing what it was-I deleted it. Now I realize my error and all my passwords are gone. If the app is the same as Strip, it was great. Im just really bummed I lost all my info.

Worth every penny

I’ve used this app for years now and it has been nothing short of fantastic. Between my personal life and my business, I have over 160+ plus usernames and passwords, of which I would be lost without some form of way to organize them. This app does all that in way that makes perfect sense to me. I LOVE the touch ID update so that I don’t have to fumble around with the complex password I created to get into the app. Also, the one or two times that I did have an issue, their tech support team replied to my questions in a matter of hours with clear and concise answers. Love the team, love the app!

Why would you trust this company with your data?

Zetetic changed the name and logo if their Strip app without notifying their customers. How many other people, like I, deleted the now unrecognizable app on their phone thereby losing all their passwords? When I contacted Zetetic they told me they tried to contact customers through their website, Twitter, and emails (but admitted they were missing many email addresses). So they had considered this distinct possibility. Why would they think the average app user is reading their thrilling tweets or visiting tgeir website or opening emails from Zetetic? The name means nothing to me. Couldnt the engineers designed a message upon opening the app that alerted me to the upcoming changes and gave me permission to accept them? Do you really want to entrust your data to a company that makes decisions like this and puts the customer last? Just brilliant.

Terrific App!!

Ive enjoyed using Codebook since 2012 on my Mac, iPad and iPhone. (formerly named STRIP) Its great to have the power to create a strongly uncrackable password on one device and quickly sync it to your other devices via Dropbox or Drive. The tech support on this product is the quickest, most helpful and intelligent youre likely to find. I have over 50 unique passwords for financial & investment accounts, subscriptions as well as encrypted disk images and folders. The primary attraction of Codebook is whats under the hood--ultra-strong, deeply randomized password generation and protection. While I doubt the strength of many of todays password apps whose authors lack a comprehensive understanding of encryption, I trust the methodologies and sophistication Zetetic utilizes to keep Codebook and its users secure.

What happened to email function?

I rely on this app quite a bit, and had no problem paying (again) for the latest version. However, it appears that the new version lost the ability to send password-protected PDFs by email. This is a critical feature. Please add the feature, as it allows an extra, convenient way to send (somewhat) secure messages when a little security is warranted, and also allows users to back up notes by emailing them to hard drives, Evernote, etc. At a certain point, if these performance problems are not fixed, the app will start to lose users.

The Best Password Manager

Nothing beats this app! Its beautifully simple and fits in perfectly with iOS. The icons are great for items. No nonsense app with great protection and syncing without strings attached. Thank you so much for developing this app and keeping it up to date. I hope it gets far more popular with the attention it deserves!
